About SGS and Jay Busbee

SportsGoneSouth has only one essential mission…but we’ll be damned if we can remember what it is. Till we do, we’ll bring you the good, the bad, and the weird in every Southern sport imaginable, from Braves baseball to Florida State football, Duke basketball to…what’s that sport with the ice and sticks and little round half-ball?

Anyway, we’ve got no need to stuff your browser with more stories about T.O., the Boston Red Sox, or Kobe. We will figure out every possible angle on woodsheddings at Jordan-Hare and Sanford, Midnight Madness at the Dean Dome and Alexander Memorial Coliseum, runs for the checkered flag at Daytona and Richmond, playoff sprints at Turner Field and Alltel Stadium, and cockfights in North Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. If it’s sports, and it’s in the South, you’ll find us making fun of it here.

SGS head honcho Jay Busbee has been published on ESPN.com; Esquire.com; Slam; The Washington Post; USA Today; Bluff; the Chicago Sports Review; Atlanta, Memphis, Baltimore, and Richmond magazines; and plenty of other places that even his mother doesn’t track. Contact him at jay AT sportsgonesouth.com (or click here) and ask him why he feels the need to refer to himself in the third person.

We’re also looking for your input. See a particularly dumbass editorial or weird story? Want your book/DVD/video game/wedding night video reviewed? Need some pithy commentary for your radio show or on-deadline article? Contact us at tips AT sportsgonesouth.com (or just click here) and we’ll give you the full skinny.

Enjoy!
