Closing Out The Weekend: Ladies… Love Cool Jay; Tony vs. LeBron
By Jay Busbee | June 10, 2007
All right, twenty minutes till the sun sets on Sopranoland. Yes, we’re caught up in the hype, but for once, it’s worth it. Ms. SGS (her new name — “Mrs. SGS” sounded too much like our mom…not that we don’t love you, Mom!) gave up on the Sopranos sometime in the meandering Season 5. (Great promo poster from that season, though…makes us wish we had the Photoshop skills to put LeBron and Duncan down there among the dead men.) But we stuck it out to the end of the line, and man, are we glad we did. You show us a finer series of episodes than these last few, and we’ll…well, we’ll be happy to see it. Between this and Lost, it’s been an embarrassment of TV riches of late — too bad The Shield didn’t quite deliver this season — and we’ve still got Rescue Me and The Wire to look forward to. So, to Tony, salud; to LeBron, we’ll catch you midway through the second quarter…but only if the Braves are getting blown out by the Cubs.
Also, we survived the first round of the Ladies… Hot Blogger Bracket, and we made a new friend along the way — our opening-game opponent, Jay from My Sports Talk. We’ve already struck a deal to bring him back to these parts come football season. Now, somewhere down the line, we’ll likely have to face off against former NBA player Paul Shirley or DawgSports‘ T. Kyle King. Don’t know what we’ll yet do to Shirley — maybe arrange a tryout with the Hawks — but we’ll try to get Kyle to take a dive with a promise of mucho face time in God Is A Bulldog. (Hey, it’s three years away. Maybe he’ll forget by then.)
Have a good Sunday night, and we’ll see you tomorrow morning with more of the usual idiocy.

So, my review of the Sopranos? After 86 hours of some of the most exceptionally written, acted, and choreographed television ever, the finale was without a doubt
